[Kindle paperwhite driver windows 10
The device shows as charging, but Windows does not acknowledge that it’s been connected. It used to work – then some months ago, it quit. I saw one suggestion that the problem started when Amazon pushed an update out to the Kindle. I could try doing a total reset – but if that doesn’t work, now I’ve lost all my sideloaded books with no way to reinstall them. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help. Thanks for your feedback. If it worked before but isn’t any longer, it’s probably NOT the cable.
I saw those posts mentioning the cable. But, I’ve tried 37 different cables who knew I had so many damned cables laying around! I was able to connect to the device about 6 weeks ago, the last time I updated content on the Paperwhite. In general, if the cable being used will transfer data to another device, it will to the Kindle – and, therefor, is not why it’s not recignized. I’m not convinced a firmware update caused it, either. As I never have WiFi on, it could not have updated firmware automatically.
While resetting the PW today, I risked connecting through WiFi and it’s not showing any updates available – I have firmware 5.
I’ve attempted to reset device to factory several times, with no change in behavior. At this point, it’s essentially bricked – it works locally, but there’s no way to get content onto the device : Really pissing me off as I live with the device.
Unfortunately, I haven’t a clue as to where or how to fix it. I’ve come to the conclusion that in my case, it’s the Kindle itself, not the cable or WIndows. I got a new Kindle for my husband and his connects just fine; I tried mine with his cable on that computer, and on a different computer and as before, it charges but does not mount.
Pity we can’t load via bluetooth or the like. This is so aggravating. Is this a Windows issue or Amazon issue? I have tried several of the suggested fixes and none work. I see no option to change whether the Kindle is seen as a camera, storage device, etc. I purchased a brand new Surface Go early Connected my Kindle Paper White and it recognised it straight away.
Then after the first Windows update my Kindle is not recognised. It is not the cable, it is not the Kindle firmware settings. Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community.

I was thinking “why mine wasn’t working Microsoft is not addressing it and it appears that Amazon is not either. It’s perhaps to their advantage to NOT fix it, as it makes it much harder to sideload books purchased elsewhere or even from Amazon, if you don’t have wi-fi but it’s rotten customer service.
Anna stasiia. I have the same problem, but with my original cable. It was working before and now it just charges the kindle. I used the book less then a year. I’ve had to do this at least once. In my case, it’s definitely on and unlocked. Ditto for my Voyage, other Kindles and my Fires. Posts in the community may contain links to unsupported third-party websites not operated by Amazon.
